Show Your Latest Instagram Posts on Your Website

If you run a small coffee roaster, your Instagram is probably the most up-to-date thing about your business: this week's single origin, a new bag design, the Saturday farmers' market booth. Your website, meanwhile, still shows the photos you took the week it launched.

Keeping the two in sync by hand does not last. This guide shows how to connect your Instagram account to FormEdge so your latest posts appear on your website as a photo grid and update on their own. You post on Instagram as usual; the website follows.

If Instagram has been your only presence so far, this is also a good first block for a new website. Your hours, address and a contact form tell people how to reach you; the feed right next to them shows what you are doing this week.

What you'll set up

There are three parts, and you do each of them once:

  1. Connect your Instagram account in the FormEdge dashboard
  2. Add an Instagram block to your page and choose the columns and the number of posts
  3. Publish the page

After that there is nothing to maintain. FormEdge checks your account for new posts automatically on a regular schedule, and the grid on your page moves along with it.

Before you start

  • An Instagram professional account (Business or Creator). Personal accounts cannot be connected. Switching a personal account to a professional one is free and done in the Instagram app; Instagram's help pages walk you through it
  • A FormEdge workspace with the page you want the feed on. If you do not have a page yet, build one first — you can start for free from the end of this guide
  • The Starter plan or higher
  • Owner or admin access to the workspace. Only owners and admins can connect Instagram

Walkthrough

  1. Connect Instagram in the dashboard

In the FormEdge dashboard, open the account menu (the person icon, top right) and choose Instagram integration.

Click Connect an Instagram account. You are sent to Instagram: sign in with the account you want to show and allow FormEdge access. FormEdge only reads your posts; it cannot post for you or change anything on your account.

Back in FormEdge, you should see “@yourname is now connected.” FormEdge loads your posts right after connecting, so you can move straight on to the page.

  2. Add an Instagram block to your page

Open the page in the editor, click Add a block, and choose Instagram. Your latest posts show up in the block right away.

    The block has three settings:

    SettingOptionsStarts at
    Columns (desktop)2 to 43
    Columns (mobile)1 to 32
    Posts shown1 to 126

Pick a number of posts that fills complete rows at both column counts. Numbers that would leave a half-empty last row are labeled “(leaves a partial row)” in the list.

Placement matters more than it seems. A roaster might put the grid under a short heading like "Roasting this week" near the top, where it reads as proof the business is active, rather than at the very bottom of the page.

  3. Publish

Publish the page. If the page was already live, publish your changes so the new block goes out.

Open the published page and click a tile to make sure it opens the post on Instagram. Check it on your phone too, since most people who come from Instagram will be on one.

You can open the example page built by following these steps. Ember Hill Coffee Roasters is a fictional business, and the posts in its grid come from the Instagram account connected for the example.

  4. Or ask ChatGPT or Claude to add the block

If your workspace is connected to ChatGPT or Claude over MCP, you can have the AI place the block for you.

The AI cannot connect Instagram itself. Do step 1 in the dashboard first, then ask:

    Prompt to paste

Add an Instagram block to my FormEdge homepage that shows my 6 latest posts in 3 columns.
Put it right after the intro section, under a heading that says "Roasting this week".

The AI adds the block to the page draft. Check the preview, then publish. If you have not connected an AI yet, the setup is covered in steps 2 and 3 of How to Build a Website with ChatGPT and How to Build a Website with Claude.

What visitors see

  • Your most recent posts, newest first, as square tiles
  • Clicking a tile opens that post on Instagram in a new tab (this does not work inside the page editor)
  • Videos and Reels appear as their thumbnail image; they do not play on your page
  • No captions. The tiles are photos only, so a short heading above the grid helps people know what they are looking at
  • New posts are picked up automatically on a regular schedule, so a post you just published may take a while to appear

Common snags

SnagWhat to do
The account will not connectPersonal accounts cannot be connected. Switch to a professional account (Business or Creator) in Instagram and try again. Also check that the workspace is on Starter or higher and that you are an owner or admin
The published page shows nothing where the feed should beUntil an Instagram account is connected, the block is hidden on published pages (the editor shows “Connect an Instagram account to show posts here”). Complete step 1
A new post has not appearedNew posts are picked up on a schedule, so give it some time. If nothing changes after a while, connect the same account again from the Instagram connection page; the new connection replaces the old one
After moving back to the Free plan, the feed stopped updatingOn the Free plan, new posts are no longer loaded and the page keeps showing the posts it already had. The Instagram connection page says syncing is paused. Move back to Starter or higher to resume

No website yet?

Start with a single page: a few lines about what you roast and why, where to find you and when, a contact or wholesale inquiry form, and this Instagram grid to carry the day-to-day. You can build it from a template in the dashboard or ask ChatGPT or Claude to build it for you in chat.

FAQ

Can I connect more than one Instagram account?
Yes. Use “Add an account” on the Instagram connection page, then choose which account each Instagram block shows. A block with no account chosen shows the first account you connected, marked “Default”.
Can I pick which posts appear?
No. The block always shows your most recent posts, up to the number you set. Think of your Instagram grid as what your website will show, and post accordingly.
Can I show only posts with a certain hashtag?
No. There is no hashtag filter and no reordering; posts appear newest first.
Do captions show up on my website?
No. Your website shows the photos as tiles. Clicking a tile opens that post on Instagram, where visitors can read the caption and comments.
What happens if I disconnect the account?
Instagram blocks showing that account stop appearing on your published pages, and the posts FormEdge had saved for it are deleted. Connect the account again to bring the feed back.
